Ronnie Stanley from Baltimore Ravens begins through injury fights

To say that Baltimore Raven's offensive Tackle Ronnie Stanley is dealing with his share of injuries would be a massive understatement.

Stanley, number 6 in the NFL design in 2016, dealt with a few minor injuries at the beginning of his career, but the first big one came in 2020 when he was withdrew from the field with an ankle injury during a week 8 against Pittsburgh Steelers. While he returned to the Las Vegas Raiders at the start of the season in 2021, this would be the only game he had played this season when another serious ankle injury suffered.

This second injury came shortly after Stanley had signed an extension of five years, whereby many wondered if he was ever the same player. In a new player -tribune article of the players entitled “Powering Through”, Stanley revealed, which occurred to him in this difficult time.

“I will never forget that everyone looks at me: 'Damn, Ronnie, you have the bag and now you get operated on, what, what, huh? Do you really need it? Can't you just play through that?'”, Wrote Stanley. “The story was basically: this type cannot fight the pain. He doesn't love the game. He just wants to get and run the money.”

“But I got the operation, and when it went through the doctors, I let me know … my deltameter was indeed completely torn. I couldn't have played with this injury, no matter what I tried to do.

Stanley also revealed that his deltam was the only part of his ankle that he did not tore in 2020. As he tried to rehab for about six weeks, he finally made the difficult decision to organize his second operation in so many years.

Even after his return from this operation, Stanley still dealt with the consequences. Not only physically, but also mentally.

“I played the game with the fear of achieving the right results and without joy in achieving these results. For fear of not messing up, I have not played with the love that comes from the attempt to be great.

“Back before these injuries I came from a season in which I felt that I was one of the top players in my position, and yet every time I struggled my tunnels, it was only the mistakes I could make.

Fortunately, Stanley's story is now in a new, much lighter chapter. He played all 17 games for the first time in his career last season and returned to one Pro Bowl level, which the Ravens rewarded in March with an extension of three years by $ 60 million. The longest raven will now be Lamar Jackson's blind blocker for a while.
