Music lives in the heart of “Sünders”, a cash feeling with Michael B. Jordan, who successfully spans the musical and horror genres. We asked the film's Oscar winner to open his decisions.

Ludwig Göransson is a film composer Black panther And Oppenheimerand finally his Bluegrass-infused score for Sinner, That was recently the first horror film in the history of Cinemascore, which received a perfect A rating.

The musician born in Swedish uses music in the film as a spiritual strength to tell the stories of our past and to be a voice for the unvoiceless. Göransson came to Classic FM with his Dobro guitar from 1932, on which he wrote most of his latest film score to open the music …

How did Ludwig Göransson write the score “sinner”?

Göransson wrote most of the sinner Hit at a Dobro guitar from 1932, the same instrument, which is played in the film by Preacher Boy Sammy, a plantation worker whose true passion plays the guitar. It is one of three Dobros that the composer found in the world – one in London, one in Nashville and one in Los Angeles.

The Dobro's defining feature is its huge silver resonator, which is behind the strings and acts as a primitive version of a modern amplifier. “It helps the guitar to sing a little more … and as a little natural distortion,” explains Göransson.

Bringing the guitar to the “sing” was central to his musical process. The composer also used a slide, a cylindrical metal device in the form of a glass goods das in the days of health and safety from guitarists to give the sound a language-like quality.

“You can slide between the notes, almost as if they were singing,” explains Göransson.

What is Ludwig Göransson's musical background?

Ludwig grew up by music and started guitar lessons with his father at the age of six.

“When I was eight or nine years old, I heard 'penetration from Sandman from Metallica for the first time,” recalls Göransson. “Then I became really passionate about music and it was my own thing. My father was in the blues and I was on heavy metal.”

The composer later discovered the origins of the blues as the backbone of many of today's popular music genres. “And at this age I didn't even understand that all music, even heavy metal, comes from the blues,” says Göransson. “And it is something that I think it came out in the score. For me it is a very personal score.”

Göransson used his own journey of musical discovery to form the score. “It usually starts acoustically,” he says, “and when the stories develop, it changes to heavy metal, orchestra, strings and large drums.”

In the course of history, Göransson demonstrates the sounds of string instruments, an orchestra and an E -guitar to create an environment of dangers and discomfort.

What is the music in the surreal “music assembly” in sinners?

In the middle of the film there is a striking, surreal music assembly scene that summarizes a wealth of music history, including traditional African music, blues, funk, jazz and hip-hop. It starts with a performance and then goes to all different music genres in a surreal, dreamy state in a dance floor from the 1930s.

“When I read it in the script, I have goose bumps because it is such an out -of -body experience,” says Göransson.

He brought the song to the American singer-songwriter Raphael Saadiq, who is considered one of the great R&B music producers. “It was a dream of mine to work with him,” says Göransson. “And he had his idea for a blues song his whole life.”

The scene is a very complicated IMAX recording that searches all musicians in the room. “I looked at myself on site while shooting the scene,” recalls the composer. “It was extremely complicated and it took about two months to plan this whole scene.”
