Maria Nepomuceno is a multidisciplinary Brazilian artist who has been exhibiting internationally since 2008 and creates lively sculptures, installations, paintings and drawings. The best known for their knitted sculptural works, which are rooted in traditional weaving techniques from their cultural education, is inspired by indigenous traditions, Afro-Brazilian spirituality and Brazilians Landscapes. With fabric, pearls, ropes, straw, sound, ceramics, wood, plants and other materials, your work overlaps with artistic and social movements such as feminist art, neoconal cret and environmental activism. The artist's wall work by the artist in Rio de Janeiro Sem Título [Untitled]– One of two parts that can be seen at the stand of the gallery, which appeals to the land, territory, memory and future and at the same time thinks about social, political and ecological concerns – combines pearls, ceramics, wood, pumpkins and rope into a wonderfully dynamic mix.
