YouTube to Livestream NFL game for the first time for the video giant

Further sports fall into the streaming arena: YouTube has caught the exclusive rights to an NFL game for the 2025 season. For the first time, the video platform will be an NFL game free of charge in its entirety. The deal builds on YouTube's Pact as a US home for the Sunday Ticket Premium package of the NFL.

YouTube will exclusively stream the game of the NFL games of the NFL of the first season of the coming season of São Paulo, Brazil, on September 5, 2025 on most users worldwide on YouTube and YouTube TV. (It will not be available on YouTube in Canada, where the NFL has an existing streaming contract with Bell Canada and is darkened in some other countries.) YouTube made the announcement before its Brandcast event in New York on Wednesday evening.

In February, the NFL announced that she would repeat a game of the first week in the Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, and would start the international games in 2025 with the Los Angeles Chargers as a proven team. The opponent of the chargers will be announced on Wednesday, May 14th, when the complete NFL time plan from 2025 is published at 8 p.m.

The amount that YouTube pays for the rights at week 1 has not been disclosed. But the NFL is still the hottest goods on television: In the USA, 45 of the 100 most viewed television programs were NFL games, including the entire top ten, by Nielsen.

The NFL and YouTube have been media partners for years, but they have significantly strengthened the partnership starting with the 2023-24 season when YouTube was the exclusive US retailer for the Sunday Ticket Out-of Home Package. As part of the seven-year Sunday tick, Google reports on the NFL over $ 2 billion a year. The Sunday ticket includes access to all extraordinary Sunday season NFL games (based on the viewer's location) to CBS and FOX.

The NFL has steadily triggered media rights for streamers for live games to expand their reach to younger fans and audiences overseas. Netflix had two Christmas Day games last year, including a Buzzy half -time performance from Beyoncé, and another Christmas guide will be received in 2025. In addition, the first -class video of Amazon will be a football game on December 25th for the coming season of Amazon as part of Amazon's deal for “Thursday evening football” (which is currently running over the 2033 season). Prime Video also has a wildcard game in January 2026 and will present the third edition of “Black Friday Football” the day after the Thanksgiving Festival with the Chicago Bears in the Philadelphia Eagles.

“We are pleased to expand our relationship with YouTube to bring this year's Brazilian game to a worldwide audience,” said Hans Schroeder, Executive Vice President of Media Distribution of the NFL. “YouTube and YouTube TV have been incredible partners of the NFL for several years and have an immense global range, and we look forward to week 1 in São Paulo.”

Mary Ellen Coe, Chief Business Officer from YouTube, said: “Streaming of the Friday evening game to fans all over the world for the first time as a live NFL broadcaster -and we will do it in a way that only YouTube with an interactive viewing experience and the creator at the center of experience.”

According to YouTube, users viewed more than 350 million hours of official NFL content on YouTube in 2024.
