What will the winning rating at the PGA championship 2025?

Griffin Wong analyzes whether or not at the PGA Championship 2025 or less than 273.5.

There is nothing better than late golf and early summer golf, and the big championship planners clearly feel that way. Just five weeks after the end of the Masters tournament, the PGA championship is already around the corner.

The Quail Hollow Club on the outskirts of Charlotte will be the host for the test of this weekend, and it is a track that most of the best of the PGA tour is already familiar with. It organizes the annual Truist Championship, although the edition of last week was held in the Philadelphia Cricket Club so that the course was able to prepare for the major of this weekend. In view of the status of the tournament as a signature event, the Truist Championship usually contains some of the best in the world in the world, including masters master Rory Mcilroy, the nine top 10 placements, including four wins, in 13 appearances on the course.

After Draftking's sports bookThis PGA championship is developing into a two-man fight between Mcilroy and Scottie Scheffler, whose record setting was his first of the season at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson two weeks ago. Scheffler (+450) Has a narrow edgeBut Mcilroy (+500) is right behind him. Bryson Dechambeau (+950) is the only other golfer with better than 10-to-1 probability of lifting the Wannamaker trophy.

There is no safe thing in the Golf, but we can be quite confident that at least one of Mcilroy, Scheffler or Dechameau will be low this weekend. The only question is how low? Draftking's sports book has defined the over-under up for the profit rating at 273.5 for the Par-71 track.

Winning the score below 273.5 (+105)

Quail Hollow is a fairly difficult course with its difficult complexes around the greens and its 7,626 meters away. According to the official statistics of the PGA Tour, it was the sixth highest that was played on the race track during the 2024 season and achieved an average value of 0.732 under the nominal value under the most important championship conditions. But raw difficulties are not all if all top players have so many course experiences in the field. For example, Augusta is clearly a more difficult route than Quail Hollow, and the profit rating was better than 10 in six of the last eight seasons.

From the 19 times in which Quail Hollow organized the Truist Championship, the profit assessment in 15 of them was 11 under par or better, and Mcilroy alone won the title three times with 273 or better, although the course was played on Par 72 in some of these years. It is worth noting that Justin Thomas won eight in the course in 2017 and under 276 when the PGA championship took place there for the last time, but this tournament was played in August and the course conditions were determined. North Carolina is bombarded with rain in spring, so the Bermuda grass should be softer and more receptive to the rating.

All top competitors just fit too well into the course so that a high level of points wins. A combination of distance and adept short game usually gains at Quail Hollow, and this applies to all three favorites. McIlroy He takes third place in the route while he is almost in the top quartile in the lines that won: around the green and has his above -mentioned story on the course. Scheffler is near approaches of over 200 meters and the first for scrambling ninth place. His game should also be well suited for the course, although his only experience at the event location in the Presidents Cup 2022, where he was the worst American. Decombeau is probably the best fit and leads the LIV golf both in the route as well as in scrambled eggs and victory. All three are able to reach 11 under even with their B-Games, and I cannot imagine that they are below average. One of the favorites will win with a score of 273 or better.
