Tesla drives wrong on the highway, leads to the Bastrop Co. crash, in which 3: DPS was killed

After an accident with a Tesla who, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety, relaxed an accident with a Tesla that drove along the wrong path.

State Highway 71 Crash

What we know:

According to Texas DPS, soldiers reacted to a fatal crash on State Highway 71 near the McAllister Road in the early morning hours of Saturday.

The investigators say shortly before 2:30 a.m. a Tesla passenger from 2022 drove to the west to the east. The Tesla met the passenger side of a Nissan Sentra from 2010.

The Nissan tried to get the Tesla out of the way, but the vehicle also turned left and led to the crash.

Chloe Rios (18) and yes Michael Houston (20) from Smithville were both at the time of the crash in Nissan. They were declared dead at the crime scene.

The driver of Tesla, 33-year-old Zaldivar Espinosa from Austin, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

According to the DPS, Espinosa did not wore a seat belt at the time of the crash.

What we don't know:

The crash is examined.

Texas DPS has not speculated why Espinosa drove on the wrong side of the street.
