The Topeka police start a new initiative to reduce violent crime

Topeka, Kan. (Wibw) – The Topeka Police Department (TPD) announced on Tuesday, May 13th, the introduction of a new specialized initiative that aims to reduce violent crimes in the city and to increase the commitment and participation of the community.

According to a press release from TPD, the program entitled PACT (police and community together) is based on the principle that permanent public security is only possible through strong, collaborative partnerships between law enforcement authorities and the municipalities they have.

The Topeka Police Department organizes on Thursday, May 22nd, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Little Oakland Park, 900 ne Chester Ave., a community -kick -picnic organized to present the initiative.

The event will be a great opportunity for the residents to meet the police chief of Topeka, Chris Vallejo, his senior command and the committed officials of the PACT unit.

Everyone is invited to participate, and encouraged to share their ideas, language concerns and to design the ongoing strategies of the department to tackle and prevent violent crimes in Topeka.

The evening includes free food, community resource information and time for one-on-one discussions with employees and civil servants.
