The Detroit water department repairs centuries-old pipes after massive leak on the west side of the city

An unfortunate neighbor in Detroit received a relief on Tuesday after the water pipes burst of her quarter and flooded the street.

For them and their neighbors, it meant lost water pressure and a whole confusion of the inconvenience until the city reacted with a solution.

What escalated to a much larger chaos than just a few.

“My neighbor – he has cancer and has to go for treatments and from and out. But it doesn't look like we can do something,” she said.

The original timeline from the city was that they could make it until Friday. But in early Tuesday the crews were on site and had the water capacity repair repaired.

Local perspective:

According to the deputy director of the water department, it was the complete loss of water pressure that his team feared.

“There were some reports of no water in contrast to low water pressure. This is part of the reason why we have excited them on the priority list,” said Sam Smalley.4

According to the Department of Detroit's water and wastewater department, the pipes were installed in 1916, far after their expectation that they should take.
