Scottie Scheffler trends in the PGA and inspired by Rory Mcilroy's victory at the Masters

Charlotte, NC – Scottie Scheffler practically had the course for himself when he arrived at the PGA championship a day earlier, a time to recover with Quail Hollow. He had only played it at the Presidents Cup in 2022 when the holes were somewhat out of operation because of the format.

Caddy Ted Scott looking for a line from the tee in the seventh Par-5 points to a small, black box beyond the bunker. Scheffler provided another beauty.

A viewer peeked down the Fairway and could not see the goal where they aimed.

“Just follow the ball and you will see the Black Box,” said Scott with a laugh.

Scheffler looks like No. 1 player, whom he has been in the past two years, and started his relationship to a slow start after missing almost two months because a freak handicraft at Christmas suffered Ravioli.

At his last start, he won his first victory of the year to a large extent eight-shot victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, the biggest lead on the PGA tour for almost five years.

For a man who tries not to look too far ahead or behind it, it was not to deny that his game went to the PGA championship in a good place.

“I dive out of a tournament that I won, and that's always a good feeling,” said Scheffler on Tuesday. “You can definitely drive part of this dynamic. If I look back on my career, it would be silly to say that I don't drive a dynamic from these victories.”

In the meantime, Rory McIlroy was on a tear to win him at Pebble Beach, the Player Championship and then in the Crown Jewel – a green jacket of the Masters who finally claimed his place in the story with the career -Grand Slam.

Before the start of this run, McIlroy had said that he was inspired for Scheffler's dominance, his nine victories from 2024, which included a Green Jacket and an Olympic gold medal of the Olympic Gold and the largest tournaments.

“I am a great admirer of Scottie for many different reasons,” said McIlroy, after winning at Pebble Beach. “But every time I play with him and see how he plays and how disciplined he is, it is really cool to see.

Now it could be Scheffler's turn to be inspired. He got the best place in the 18th green in Augusta National to see Mcilroy's joy since Scheffler helped him in the green jacket.

“It was really cool to see how Rory could end it and be there for that moment,” said Scheffler. “He is a good buddy from me out here, so I was very happy for him. This tournament and every year had to answer – for a man who had one of the best career in the history of the game – for him, sitting week after week, week after week and a single golf tournament has to be asked.

“It takes a lifetime to even have the chance to win large championships, let alone win all four.”

Concerns motivation? Scheffler gets that, no matter who wins.

“It is always motivating if you are only beaten and they are beaten a lot in the Golf,” said Scheffler. “You can't really win that many tournaments. Rory made a great start this year and he has definitely improved and has changed in his game compared to last year.

“Golf is a kind of endless striving to get the best out of yourself, and I look forward to doing this further in the course of the year.”

They are the main tractions at Soggy Quail Hollow and are grouped together when the 107th PGA championship begins on Thursday, together with the defending champion Xander Schauffele.

It is good that Scheffler arrived early on Sunday for nine holes -he was not at the PGA Tour event this week -since Quail Hollow has been flooded by more than 3 inch rain since Friday, each of the two days of official practice.

Scheffler wanted to play nine holes on Tuesday. He climbed into just five holes before the sun disappeared, dark clouds moved and thunder clapping didn't get far behind with heavy rain.

Mcilroy should meet the media on Tuesday afternoon and relocated it on Wednesday because of the weather.

This is a 7.626 yard course for a course in which the strategy for most players from the tee is equal to grave and try to keep them in a short grass. The exceptions are the eighth and 14th holes, both par 4s that can be reached depending on the T -shirts.

“From the tea they just try to really bring the ball into the fairway and probably get the ball on the fairway as far as possible just so that you can have a shorter club in Greens,” said Scheffler. “I think there will be a lot of strategy in the greens, just not that much of the tee.”

Such a moment was the eighth hole when he practiced on Sunday. His caddy told him that T -shirt driver could be a problem with a rear link if the tee went into the left. Scheffler went roughly to the left and threw a few balls into the grass.

The first shot skipped the edge and checked a stop 2 inches in front of the finish.
