Three people killed in the city of Uppsala

Three people were killed in a shootout in the Swedish city of Uppsala, as the police confirmed.

The shootout took place in a hairdressing salon near the Vaksala place in the center of the city, local media reported. According to reports, the shooter who fled a scooter is still on the run.

The officials cordoned off from a large area and a murder examination is in progress.

The incident occurred on the eve of the Walpurgis Spring Festival, which brings great crowds to the streets of Uppsala, a city north of Stockholm, and known for its university.

“Everything happened so quickly. It just went bang, bang, bang,” said a witness to Swedish Channel TV4.

Another man said he had cooked at home when he “heard two pony who sounded a bit like fireworks”, who started outside on the street.

He told Swedish television that he was “very surprised and frightened” and shortly after “Swarms from the police and ambulances” began to lock the street and tell the people that they should withdraw.

One of the victims was examined for an alleged planned attack against a relative of a gang guide, reported the Swedish National Sender SVT.

The number of shootings and gang attacks in Sweden in recent years has increasingly worried, and the government said it wanted to tighten the country's gun laws.

It is a great effort to find the shooter, with a police helicopter participating in the search, police spokesman Magnus Jansson Klarin told TV4.

The train services were stopped in the area to stop the perpetrator with them to get away, said Klarin, but they were now resumed.

Police officers went from door to door to seek further witness information.

In the meantime, the Minister of Justice Gunnar Stränger described the incident at TV4 as a “brutal act of violence”.

In an update on their website, the Swedish police recognized “concerns in public” before the upcoming Walpurgis celebrations, but their first assessment is that this was an “isolated incident” and there is “no risk to the public”.

In February, 10 people were killed at a shootout in an adult education center in the Swedish city of Oebro.
