Chisholm Trail Riders end the 88-day trip to Abilene

Tom Nass and BG Gilliam from Pineville, Missouri, completed their 891.7-mile trip along the Chisholm Trail in Abilene on Tuesday.

According to the Abilene Convention and Visitor Bureau, her journey to the saddle began on February 14 near San Antonio, Texas, and comprised 88 days and tested it through all types of weather, including snow, dust storms and intensive heat.

Gilliam had dreamed of this adventure for years, and it didn't take much to be convincing that wet saddled for the journey. Brenda Dyer accompanied the couple, looked for the route and provided critical support throughout their trip.

On the way they met people, shared stories and experienced the lasting spirit of the historic Chisholm Trail. To commemorate their trip, they presented the members of the old city administration a signed copy of their trail card, which they would like to exhibit in the Trail Center.

In the real cowboy fashion, the drivers enjoyed a drink in the Alamo Saloon to celebrate their arrival in Abilene.
