Since then, the new Pope has installed a number of events in his schedule, including the beginning of this week when he met over 1,000 journalists for the first time – and a cryptic answer has raised more than a few eyebrows.

In a now viral exchange, Robert Sherman from Newsnation asked whether Leo “had a message for the United States”?

“Many,” replied the Pope. Without working out, he simply added: “God bless you all.”

The answer was interpreted by some as pointed, while others asked whether the Pope only abused the reporter.

The next big event of the Pope will take place on Sunday, May 18, when its inauguration takes place on St. Peter's Square.
