UCI understanding shines at the research meetings of National Alzheimer's: Honors and highlights from San Francisco

Last week for members of our team at National Alzheimer -Research meeting in San Francisco was particularly busy. Initially, several of our investigators took part in the meeting of the Spring Directors of the National Alzheimer's coordination centers, a semi-annual meeting of the 35 NIH-funded Alzheimer's disease research centers (ADRCS). This meeting serves as an opportunity for ADRC teams to find out about programmatic updates, exchange research results and to develop new collaborations.

Dr. Shi accepts a 2025 NACC Recising Star Award

This year Xiaoyu Shi, PhD, a UCI Adrc Rec scholar and Associate Professor of Development and Cell Biology, was awarded the NACC Recising Star Award 2025. Dr. SHI uses state -of -the -art microscopy techniques to examine the cellular function and the spatial organization in aging and the development of diseases. Ms. Sirivong delivers her career count to the ACTC audience

Several employees of UCI -Mind employees and investigators also took part in the meetings of the Clinical Trials Consortium (ACTC) from Alzheimer. ACTC is an organization that was created to accelerate clinical studies for Alzheimer's disease and associated disorders. The network meets three times a year to increase progress in key studies such as the pre- and start studies with an overview of the mission of treatment. During this session, Ms. Shirley Sirivong, a committee member for improving the location process, the networking and the support committee and the clinical operations manager for UCI Mind, to provide “your career count”, was initiative to facilitate networking and provision of role models for the next generation of clinical experiments, a networking of several hundred people. Shirley stayed more than himself and shared the stage with recognized experts Drs. Gil Ribinovici (UCSF), Michael Rafii (USC) and Marissa Natelson Love (University of Alabama Birmingham). Ms. Sirivong had a remarkable career that started in 1994 as a student researcher at the UCI Mind.
