Routine traffic stop discovers burglary that is bound to Augusta Crime Spree

A routine traffic stop in Augusta turned into a great arrest of crimes on Monday afternoon when the deputy of a sheriff discovered that the driver was searched for due to burglary-and later connected with two further burglaries that had only occurred the night before.

According to a press release from the Sheriff office of the Richmond County, the incident began on May 12, at 4:21 p.m., when Noah Johnson's deputy team from the crime press team exceeded a green Buick Lesabre from 1998, which set up a paper label at the Apple Valley Drive and Mike Padgett Highway.

The driver, who was identified as a 46-year-old Antonio Rodiquez Tyler, was immediately custody after the MPs had learned that he came to a Burger King on Gordon Highway in November 2024. Tyler also had an active crime that could not appear.

But the arrest did not stop here.

The investigators say that further evidence during the traffic stops have connected with previous investigative work by the Department of Criminal Investigation Tyler with two additional burglaries. With two other cases of the second degree, a break-in with a burglary on May 11th at a Chevron petrol station on the Walton Way and another in one dollar mixture shop in the Peach Orchard Road.

“Traffic stops do more than just the Speeder – they often lead to the concern of people who are sought because of serious crimes,” said Sheriff Eugene Brantley in the press release. “This case is a great example of how situation awareness, training and sharp investigative instincts come together to remove criminals from our streets.”

Tyler is recorded in the Richmond County prison. The authorities say that the investigation is running and additional fees could follow.
