Since the Trump administration decreases the financing of childcare, the Republicans want more parents at home

A few months before he started with his 2022 Senate campaign, JD Vance turned to a conservative family -political group with an idea for an opinion essay. He wanted to write about why state-subsidized day care was bad-and why most young children cut it better when a parent stays at home.

The article by Mr. Vances was published less than two weeks later in Wall Street Journal and explained: “Young children are clearly happier and healthier when they spend the day at home with a parent.”

While the Trump administration meets with supporters, the declining birth rates – a cause that Mr. Vance wanted to reverse, were noticeable in the discussions of suggestions for more robust children -based childcare.

Instead, the White House has followed reductions. The Department of Health and Human Services, for example, removed many positions in offices that contribute to the financing of day care for families with low incomes, also at HEAD Start-part of the broader cost reductions, which are led by the Department of Government Efficiency by Elon Musk.

But while critics say that it is hypocritical for the government to reduce childcare support because it is for more babies, the conservative politicians and supporters who lead the movement see no contradiction.
