Statistics show that a serious crime in mobile devices falls in the annual MPD report

“As chief of police, I am very encouraged by the numbers, but we also know that we still have a lot to do.”

It is the type of report that a city policeman would be present.

On Tuesday, the mobile chief of police William Jackson stood in front of the mobile City Council to share his annual crime report.

And the numbers looked good.

“I think the district will see after the district that it is in total in all districts,” says the boss. “There are some districts that see a higher level of certain types of calls than others, but in general we are down as a city.”

NBC 15 News sat down with Chief Jackson to talk about these figures, how his department arrived there and where they go from here.

The great story is a great decline in the crimes called part 1, which have dropped by almost 24% last year and a whopping 56% in the past 10 years.

“They talk about their murders, their rapes, their robberies, they have severe attacks,” he explains. “It also extends into burglary and robbery and theft and also things of this kind.”

Those part of the first crimes of violent nature had dropped by 10% last year.

But the report continues to break out.

Crimes where someone shot into a car or building fell by 42%. Rape fell by more than 28%, robbery, 15%and heavy attacks, almost 10%.

Burglary decreased by 11 and half a percent, theft of more than 31% and the theft of the car fell by almost 24% last year.

The murders rose slightly by 15 percent, but are already lower this year.

Overall, it is definitely a positive report.

But Chief Jackson says there is an area that remains an archilles' heel for his department.

“Domestic violence in all categories,” he says. “Regardless of whether they really drive on domestic violence in murders, robberies, attacks, the traditional struggle between parties and the crime figures. And I will tell them. The majority of our crimes are people who are known to each other. Not random actions, not people who are unknown.

According to Jackson, a positive report is a combination of cooperative police work between his department and neighboring agencies and the willingness for Mobilians. But he also quickly put loans at the feet of those who walk the clock.

“The men and women every day, the commanders of the districts, take it personally,” says the boss. “I could not be proud of them because this is also their city. They not only come here, but also their city and they want to make it the safest city.”
