The spring recovery day for families who have lost relatives through violent crimes

Tulsa, Okla – The public prosecutor's office of the Tulsa district is expanding its sympathy for families, which may be through the annual spring day of memory.

The ceremony gives families and friends the opportunity to join together and to remember their relatives who were lost through violent crimes.

Stayce Williams is one of these family members.

She said, while healing from death is difficult, Tulsa's day of memory always helps.

“Today was pretty hard, but I just appreciate it so that I can hear other stories,” she said. “It helps me not to feel alone.”

The district prosecutor of Tulsa, Steve Kunzweiler, said that he wanted to offer the families a symbolic opportunity not to move in the past, but by them.

Families are gifted with flowers that they can plant in honor of their relatives who are passed on.

“If I could solve a problem, it would be nice not to have new members of this club,” he said. “But the reality is, we have people who will lose a loved one, and so these family members come back and recognize the importance of coming to the future.”

Stayce Williams said her best advice for those who have continued from a tragic loss, there are a lot of patience.

“Take your time,” she said. “If you have to stay in bed, stay in bed. And you know, just patience. It took a lot of patience and a lot of self -care.”
