Young people emphasize the continuous need for mental health support in the library's art competition

In the Roseburg Public Library, more than 70 local works of art will be exhibited in Roseburg Public Library on Wednesday and draw attention to the attention of addiction and suicide prevention efforts.

The artwork is part of the Art of Prevention Competition, which is located by Adapt Integrated Health Care, an organization that is on the provision of basic care, addiction treatment and behavioral medicine.

The competition invites students of the middle and upper level from all over Douglas County to express prevention messages through visual art with topics such as gambling, suicide, drug use and alcohol consumption.

“It is very hard issues when it comes to addiction and suicide, but to be able to hear from our youth and what they go through – and share these messages with our community with their parents and teachers – in order to raise awareness and have more discussions, the ultimate goal of the” Adaptation Prevention Program Manager Sidnee Hedrick.

The work of art is assessed by Adapt Community partners and library visitors with Cash Award to the departments of the middle school and the high school, based on the categories of drug abuse, problem game and suicide prevention.

The winners of first place receive 250 US dollars, with the winners of the second and third place receiving 150 USD or $ 100.

A youth art competition on this topic opens up the doors for people who see how some of the prevention efforts affect younger generations, while visitors can learn how important prevention efforts can be, says Hedrick.

“We want to have a youth voice in preventive effort.

The art show takes place on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is free for the public. Some students will also be on site to answer questions about their works of art and give insights into what they represent.
