Iron Maiden prepares for a milestone in her famous career with the World Tour “Run for Your Lives”. The hike in Europe begins in May in Hungary, with the announced data run until August. This tour will be the first with the new drummer Simon Dawson instead of the recently retired Nicko McBrain. Dawson previously played with Steve Harris in his other band British Lion.

The front man of Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson, took part in the Mi Conversation Series of the Musician Institute on Monday (April 21) in Hollywood. You can find video and photos from the Musicians Institute below.

During the conversation, Dickinson was asked by moderator Ryan J. Downey whether the band with Simon Dawson rehearsed for the upcoming tour to which he replied: “We already had a rehearsal with Simon, on the last tour. We had … Simon marked with British Löw [Nicko McBrain] I wanted to do the tour, but there were a few times during the show when not so much his drums, but it was really his physical body – you know, we were worried. We wanted: “We don't want to end with Nick in the hospital and we have to have a backup.” And Simon was proposed by Steve and we all went: “Yes, but how do we know that it will work?”

“So we said to Nick:” Look, in the middle of the tour we have a few days in Portland, Oregon. So we did it. And frankly I was pleasantly shocked. We went through without a break.

“And the incredible thing was obvious with Simon, after Nicko had decided to withdraw, or to withdraw from the live game that Simon had taken control, and there were other drummer from whom people thought they were somehow in the framework. And one of the reasons why we didn't choose this other kind of drummer was that Nicko. [late Iron Maiden drummer] Clive Burr back in the band because he has this feeling. “
