Burke in WGCA National Coach of the Year observation list appointed

Statesboro – Georgia Southern Head Frauengolftrainer Mimi Burke was appointed to the division I Jackie Steinmann Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) National coach of the year, presented on Tuesday afternoon by Golf Pride observation list. Burke was one of 24 coaches named in the observation list.

In her fourth season, Burke is at the head of Georgia Southern's women's golf team. This season Burke led the Eagles to her first NCAA National Championship appearance in the program history. In addition, she led the squad to six individual team titles and a second place at the Sun Belt Conference Championships this season. The Eagles ranked 33th in the Clippd National Rankings, which is the highest in the program history.

In a second appearance, Georgia Southern took 288-283-283 = 854 (-10) connected to the state of Kansas. In her first season with the Eagles, she led the squad to her first Sun Belt Championship title and the NCAA regional songs in 2022. In the same season she was appointed Sun Belt coach of the year.

Georgia Southern begins on Friday as one of 30 teams who will play for the national championship in Frauengolf. The field is cut to 15 after three rounds of the stroke game, then eight teams after the fourth round of the stroke game. The quarter -finals and the semi -finals of the game are played on Tuesday, with the game game being played on Wednesday.
