The official initiated a traffic stops and identified the driver as Juan Yepez Pena, 32, from Lathrop, California.

A check for records showed that Yepez Pena had issued a crime command from 2019 in Menlo Park due to alleged violations of the Californian Criminal Code 285 (I) – Sodomy without approval with drugs or alcohol, the police said. He was arrested for the outstanding arrest warrant and quoted for speeding.

Yepez Pena was taken to the Mendocino County prison. The Fort Bragg police stated that he had no previous contacts to their department.

“This type of proactive law enforcement authorities helps to get our community to safety 24 hours a day,” said Neil Corenka, chief of police from Fort Bragg in the press release. “What started as a traffic safety stop turned into the capture of a person who wanted to go through our city for a serious crime.”

It is important to note that Yepez Pena was arrested in connection with this command, but the allegations were not demonstrated before a court. All people are considered innocent until they have proven to be guilty.
