US woman who survived cancer four times through stray ball at home

A woman from Colorado, who fought courageously against cancer four times, was tragically shot in her house by a stray ball. Jennifer James, 49, was hit by a ball into the chest, which on April 28th through its window in the city of Berthoud, the People reported.

The single mother of four children called 911 before collapse. Despite the efforts of the first aiders, she died at the scene.

James, who was diagnosed at the age of 29, had spent two decades fighting against the disease. A Gofundme Page, which is set up for her children, describes her as “an incredible person” and realizes that she was again subjected to cancer treatment at the time of her death.

The police arrested the 20-year-old Lake Lake Worku, which allegedly fired the fatal shot. According to an affidavit of the arrest, Worku informed the authorities that he unintentionally released a pistol on the street outside of James' house. According to reports, he did not notice that the ball had entered the house and said the curtains were closed and he thought the ball hit a wall.

Worku, who also told the officials that he suffers from “schizophrenia” and hears voices, was charged with the first degree murder according to the “extreme indiscration” statute. It is recorded in a bond of 1.25 million US dollars and is expected to appear in court on June 6th.

James' daughter Ashley expressed her grief towards the local media and said: “You never think that something like this could happen to you.”

The Gofundme campaign to support James' children has so far collected over 63,505 US dollars, with the relatives remembering them as the “epitome of sunshine”.
