Around -Track -athlete Morrison's trip comes from an injury to the triumph

Five years ago, Whitney Morrison, an outstanding two-athlete from the Big Sky High School, made a decisive decision: where she can continue her sporting career. The choice was clear to Morrison, who decided to stay near home and visit the Montana University.

“I grew up when I have a lot of track trainers here. My father is a track trainer. I was just surrounded by Track My Life,” said Morrison.

A special connection with the trainer of the University of Montana, Lindsey Hall, a former all-American and record star, continued to consolidate Morrison's decision. Hall, which also took part in the heptathlon and is a large sky -coached Morrison during her middle school years.

“When I trained her in the middle school, she took part in Mountain West Youth Track Club,” said Hall.

Morrison expressed her admiration for Hall and said: “It is really something special to be trained by someone who is the greatest athlete Montana. I just hope that I can step into her footsteps.”

However, Morrison's path was not without challenges. Before her first year, she partially suffered tears in her patella tendon and a ligaments in her elbow.

“I only remember that I felt super frustrated because it was an injury that I didn't really know or knew that it would happen for two years,” said Morrison.

Despite the setbacks, Hall recognized Morrison's resistance.

“Not many people can do it. I think it is something that shows that she has a lot of determination as she is a person who is all these difficult things that work through and continue to set goals and achieve goals,” said Hall.

Morrison's positive attitude during her recovery made her an ideal candidate for a coaching position in Mountain West Youth Track Club. “Such a great role model for young people and teammates in the track team,” added Hall.

Four years after she had overcome her injuries, Morrison paid off hard work when she won gold at the Indoor Big Sky Championship Heptathlon and set up four personal records during her senior season.

Morrison reflected her trip and advised: “It could take weeks to take months. It could take years. Trust the people you have near you. Your resources, your sports trainers. It is also mentally. You have to stay positive.”
