Chicago Crime: Man, 75, killed after an accident on the south side, says CPD, says CPD

A 75-year-old man was killed by a car on the south side of the city on Tuesday evening and the alleged driver is in custody.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the crash occurred around 9:23 p.m. in the 7000 block of the South Western Avenue in the Chicago Lawn district.

What we know:

The police said a silver SUV, who was driven by a 29-year-old woman, traveled north to the Western Avenue and hit the man on the street.

The man was seriously injured due to the accident and treated by paramedics. He was brought to the Christian Hospital, where he died.

The police said the suspicious car continued, but was later stopped by officials. The driver was taken into custody.

German accident detectives examine the crash.

What we don't know:

The police said the charges came out, but they did not identify the driver.

The Cook County Medical Examiner office did not identify the victim.
