Highlights by Dave Sears' Post-Draft interview with Paul Calvisi in the Big Red Rage Podcast

There is a lot to do what the assistant of the Arizona Cardinals, GM Dave Sears, Paul Calvisi told in his latest interview after the design in the Big Red Rage Podcast.

For those among them who have not yet seen the podcast, here is the link:

Dave Sears about Walter Nolen III, DT, Mississippi

  • He was not a “dice throw” for us- “his band is not a cube throw”- “we spent enough time during the process (in the senior bowl and while Walters Top 30 in Arizona) that we felt very comfortable with him as a person.”
  • “A more aggressive, violent faster, disruptive player who has the versatility to play between 5 and 0 technology.”

Let us have interactive fun about it.

We will assign a ROTB member to emphasize what Dave Sears revealed about the following players (publish their highlights in the comment area.

  • Will Johnson, CB, Michigan-Redc
  • Jordan Burch, DE, Oregon- Jethro Bodine
  • Cory Simon, LB, Ohio St. Sundevil99
  • Denzel Burke, CB, Ohio St. Ryanmac7
  • Hayden Conner, G, Texas-Set61

Choose one of these 5 draft picks (round 2-6) for all others and tell us your thoughts about the player. Let's take a deep dive here.

Here is mine:

Kitan Crawford, S, Nevada, 5-11, 202

Dave Sears was not asked about Kitan Crawford; So I will predict what Sears would have said and then add my own thoughts:

Texas Transfer to Nevada, who played an outstanding security brand for Nevada in 2024.

Played over 1,000 special teams during his entire college career.

2024 Statistics: 76 Tackles (LED team), 3 TFLS, 2 Ints returned with 1 for TD (52-yard-Pick-Six vs. Oregon St.), 7 PBus, FF, 88.8 Pass cover (PFF)

Was the overall second highest security (sportiness of 89 per nfl.com) at the combine harvester and published this exhibition elements:

  • 40- 4.41
  • 10-yard split- 1.52
  • Vertical 41.5 ”
  • Wide- 10 '8 ”
  • 3-concrete 6.81
  • 20-yard shuttle- 4.03
  • 225 Repetitions- 18
  • Lance Zierlein from NFL.com projected Kitan Crawford as 4th or 5th round.

When I heard about the interest of the cardinals in Kitan Crawford during the preliminary draft, I looked at his band and researched his background, the more excited I became. I had ridiculed him in round 7 on the cardinals, but was afraid that he would be taken on the 3rd day earlier.

Take a look at the textbook road that he collapses at the 2nd piece of the video and mix up to reach the loss.

Take a look at his two interceptions, the first was his choice for six against Oregon St.

Take a look at how fluently he runs with the ball in his hands.

Take a look at the passport separations that he makes out of the slot.

When I go to the band of a player, the first thing I always try to judge is the player's feet. Take a look at Kitan's feet. He is clever. I was able to turn this check box right from the start.

Kitan has to add more strength to play in the box in the NFL. He keeps his husband out of the slot and on runs and screens, which he gets to the ball very quickly. As a rookie, Kitan could be a major contribution to special teams and has the daily opportunity to use and learn from Budda Baker's sharp understanding of the position.

Dave Sears revealed two important topics:

  1. The cardinals were surprised and pleased to see that every player he had chosen was on the board when the team was on the clock.
  2. The cardinals selected the player in every round that was number 1 on their board. They did not necessarily come into the draft that their first 5 tips would be on defensive players, but they held on their board.

Praise Paul Calvisi as usual for the implementation of such an information interview.
