Dollar gift to Agradaa No match for Cecilia Dapaah Scandal – Dr. Tanko computer fires NPP

Dr. Sofo Tanko Rashid is CEO from GIFEC

Dr. Sofo Tanko Rashid, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), popularly as Dr. Tanko Computer is known, the new Patriotic Party (NPP) criticized this

Dr. Tanko spoke to moderator Roland Walker in the new time of day of TV3 with moderator Roland Walker as misleading and unfair and insisted that the two incidents are “different” in context and the implication.

Sammy Gyamfi, CEO of the Ghana Gold Board and National Communications Officer of the NDC, recently donated a non -mentioned amount of dollars to Agradaa during a service, reported to be recognized for their public support from the NDC.

The act, which was recorded on video and spread online, triggered a debate, with the NPP tried to make it questionable.

But Dr. Tanko dismissed these claims and emphasized that the gesture was personally, transparent and without misuse of state resources.

“Sammy's gift was a public value of appreciation, no scandal. It cannot be compared to the Cecilia Dapapaah saga, in which over one million dollars were found in a ministerial house under suspicious circumstances,” he said.

The controversy around Cecilia Dapapaah, a former minister of sanitary and water resources, triggered national outrage in 2023 after it turned out that large sums of the foreign currency – over 1 million US dollars, € 300,000 and several million Ghana Cedis – were stolen from their private residence.

The origins and purpose of the funds remain unclear and raises questions about potential financial inappropriateness and abuse of office.

Dr. Tanko also questioned the silence of the NPP, which he described as a “monumental scandals”, as the unsolved allegations of corruption in which the former head of the National Signal Bureau, Kwabena adu-Boahene, was involved.

He asked the governing party to focus on tackling these urgent topics instead of getting involved in a “minor political balance”.
