The bosses of the construction company, which were arrested in the scandal of the public funds of 60 million KSH

The suspects are processed in the EACC headquarters and in the western regional office of the Commission.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested three directors of the Ramagon Construction Company Limited because of its alleged participation in a scandal for public funds in KSH60 million, which is connected to a project at the Matili Technical Training Institute in Bungoma County.

In a statement on Wednesday, May 14th, EACC confirmed the arrest of Abdi Barre Abdi, Hassan Bare Abdi and Nagenye Mohamud Dahir, which are examined at the institution for procurement and fraudulent activities in connection with the construction of a twin workshop complex.

“EACC arrested three directors of the Ramagon Construction Company Limited – Abdi Barre Abdi, Hassan Bare Bare Abdi and Nagenye Mohamud Dahir, in connection with ongoing studies on procurement disclosures and in connection with the construction of a Twin workshop complex at the Matili Technical Training Institute (MTTI) in Bungoma County.

“The investigation showed that in consultation with civil servants, the company has irregularly inflated the original contract value from 29.3 million KSH to 59 million KSH, which led to an overpayment of 22 million KSH for non -provided services,” the explanation said.

EACC also announced that Ramagon Construction requested an additional 9 million ksh, which contributed to the illegal auction of the institute's driving school.

“The company incorrectly requested another 9 million ksh, which led to the fraudulent auction of the Matili institute's driving school worth 5.4 million KSH for 1.2 million KH,” added the agency.

The suspects were arrested in Bungoma and are currently being processed in the EACC headquarters and in the Western Regional Office of the Commission.

EACC said that the results of the investigation to the director of the public prosecutor's office (DPP) would forward to the examination.
