Police: teen shot, killed

A 16-year-old from Beltsville, Maryland, who had dreamed of playing college football, was shot in his bedroom by a visiting friend who played with a gun.

A 16-year-old from Beltsville, Maryland, who played in the football team of his high school, was shot in his house by a man who played with a weapon with a gun.

Derrick Palmer was a soccer player at John F. Kennedy High School in Wheaton. According to Prince George's police, he was killed in his house on Heartwood Drive on Saturday afternoon.

Kimaury Kamara, 18, from Mt. Holly Springs, Pennsylvania, is charged with homicide, a “ghost gun” and other counts. It will be recorded without a bond until a hearing in June.

Shortly before the shootout, Palmer and Kamara hung around with another person in a bedroom on the second floor of the house.

Kamara told Detective that he does not know that there is a ball in the weapon chamber when he pointed it to Palmer and pulled the trigger and hit the teenager in the head.

Three weapons were found in the bedroom, including two bells and a “ghost gun” with a 30-round magazine and machine gun switch switch switch.

Palmer's father Quentin told NBC Washington: “He was a clever, bright child. He loved football and dreamed of playing football in college. He loved to train, play video games and enjoy his family and friends.”

Palmer's father told the local news channel that he had left the house 30 minutes before the shootout and didn't know that his son was near people with weapons.

“He was everything for me, I only had so many hopes and dreams for him,” Quentin Palmer told NBC Washington.
