MHS Boys achieve a few one -sided victories

The baseball team of the Mathews High School Versity Baseball achieved a few one -sided victories over Charles City and Northampton last week.

Charles City

Last Thursday, the Blue Devils Charles City organized and excluded the visit to visitors 30-0. It was an excellent performance of the Mathews Pitching Staff with Senior Colin Moore and Neuling Liam Penick, who threw the combined shutout.

Moore threw the first three innings, excluded six batteries and only allowed one goal, which made the victory recorded. Penick joined to relieve Moore and throw the last two innings and strike three batteries.

The Blue Devils were strong in the field and recorded a flawless game. They saw the ball well on the plate and collected 20 goals a day. Outstanding players on the offensive were Senior Cam Matthews, Junior Blake Hunley and Freshman Treye Church. Everyone fought in four runs while collecting two goals each. Other offensive leaders were Senior Tre Greene and Freshman Hunter Horsley, three RBIs each.

Northampton

The following day, the Mathews Versity Blue Devils made their second trip to the east bank, where they defeated the yellow jackets of Northampton with 13: 1. Senior Justin Jones gave a dominant performance on the hill and threw a complete game. Jones excluded 11 batters while he was only over the six innings. The Blue Devils continued their defensive skills in their second flawless game in a row. It was a bound game through two innings before the Blue Devils withdraw and added six runs over the next three innings. They broke the game and scored six runs in the sixth inning. The team was led by Senior Jordyn Cosby, who went 2: 4 on the plate and scored three times as he collected his first triple. Junior Michael Thomas was also highlighted with two RBIs 3-on-4.

The team should take the West Point information on Tuesday, but due to rain it was canceled and will now take place on Tuesday. Apart from the West Point Game, the Mathews Varsity Blue Devils should play their last two regular season games at home today and Friday. Today's match is against the Middlesex Chargers and tomorrow the Blue Devils will compete against the Colonial Beach Drifters for Senior Night. The first place for both will be at 6 p.m.
