Grandmother heard screams when the 11-year-old Jayden Perkins was killed

Jayden Perkins' grandmother talked to the mother of the 11-year-old when the boy's murderer broke through the door of her Edwater apartment, she said on Wednesday.

“I heard screams and 'No, co! No!” Said Shirese Turner and referred to the nickname of the man, crosetti brand.

Turner's emotional testimony opened the third day of the murder trial against fire, 39. He defended himself against charges without a lawyer that he had entered his ex-partner's apartment in the 5900 block of the North Ravenswood Avenue and stabbed her and her son on March 13, 2024.

Laterria Smith had been ready to bring Jayden and his 5-year-old brother to school when fire appeared and started to stab her, said the prosecutors. When Jayden tried to help his mother, he also stabbed him too.

The attack occurred the day after the brand was released due to attacks on another ex-partner. The public prosecutor said Brand was bothering Jayden's mother after ending a romantic relationship that had sparked them again.

After the grandmother heard her daughter's screams by phone, she said that the phone call cut out. There was no answer when she returned, so she hurried to Smith's house just a few minutes away and arrived in front of first aiders.

At first she wondered if something bad had happened and said it seemed calm in front of the building.

“My mind was everywhere,” said Turner, 53.

But she frozen when she entered the open apartment and saw the building maintenance manager held a towel for the 11-year-old.

“I was in shock,” she said. “I couldn't believe what I saw.”

The construction manager Humberto Calixto said on Wednesday that he was one of the first people who entered the apartment and tried to take Jayden and his mother to live measures.

Calixto said he entered the apartment and saw how Jayden's 5-year-old brother stood in the middle of the room and held a digital tablet. Then he saw Smith bleeding out of his neck. She stuck to Jayden who had been stabbed in the chest, he said.

Calixto said he ran to get towels out of the bathroom and started breast compression on Jayden, but remained after noticing that blood stormed from his chest.

Calixto then put the pressure on the wounds of Smith and Jayden while waiting for paramedics to arrive. He said he was in the apartment when Smith's brother and mother came. He said Smith's brother got angry and turned over a coffee table and broken it.

The grandmother said that she didn't know that her daughter was dated with the brand. Turner said she met Brand for the first time in 2006 when her daughter was 15 years old and was not allowed to date. Shortly after the attack, she identified the police that the attacker was.

Turner is communicated with the police in the police chief of a police ridge shown in court: “Crosetti brand, he got out of prison yesterday.

Smith's neighbor from Smith said on Tuesday that she was the first person to enter the apartment after the attack when she heard Smith's hectic screams.
