Jayson Tatum Post's first Instagram message after Achilles injury – NBC Sports Boston

Jayson Tatum's restoration process has started.

The Boston Celtics superstar suffered a broken Achilles tendon of the right in the fourth quarter of his team's defeat against the New York Knicks on Monday evening.

The Celtics announced on Tuesday that Tatum will recover a complete recovery after a successful operation, but they did not give an official schedule for his return.

Tatum reacted publicly on Wednesday with an Instagram post in which he was lying in his hospital bed, together with the caption “grateful for all the love and support”.

Tatum wasted no time to address his injury. The Boston GlobeAdam Himmelsbach reported on details about why this was the case.

“According to a source of the league, the injury was confirmed when Tatum was subjected to tests on Tuesday morning and the decision was carried out immediately because Swift measures tend to lead to cheaper results after Achilles' injuries,” Himmelsbach wrote on Tuesday.

“The source added that complications are common during these procedures, so that the Celtics were encouraged when Tatum emerged from the operation without any further problems.”

Tatum led the Celtics with 28.1 points, 11.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game in the playoffs at the time of his injury.

The Celtics Trail the Knicks 3-1 in its semi -finals of the Eastern Conference. Boston has to win three games in a row to climb game 5 in the TD Garden on Wednesday evening.

Game 5 tips at 7 p.m. ET, with the reporting of NBC Sports Boston from 6 p.m. Celtics Pregame Live.
