Thomson prison inmate was guilty of having killed co -officers as a hate crime scene act

Rockford, Ill. (Wifr) – An inmate in the Thomson prison expects the conviction after a federal jury found him guilty of having killed a co -breed because it was Jewish.

Brandon Simonson, also known as “Whitey”, 41, from Moorehead, Minnesota, was convicted on Tuesday after a seven -day exam in Rockford.

Simonson was found to be guilty of all four cases, including a second degree, a second degree murder, conspiracy for the commission of murder, hate crime and assault in March 2020 death of 31-year-old Matthew Phillips.

During the trial, the public prosecutor's office Simonson and another inmate, Kristopher Martin, said to beat Phillips because he was a Jew. According to reports, the attack was a way to gain recognition and membership in a white supremacist anti -Semitic prison gang called Valhalla Bound Skinheads.

The investigators say that Simonson kicked Phillips on the face and head during the attack on March 2, 2020, although Phillips was thrown out and could not defend himself. Phillips died three days later.

Martin, also known as “No Luck”, 43, from Brazil, Indiana, gained guilty at the beginning of this year and is waiting for the conviction.

Simonson is to be convicted on August 22nd.
