2 men killed in a Mesa shooting, the police say, the police say

Two men died at a Mesa shootout late on Tuesday evening, the police said.

What we know:

The shootout occurred nearby on May 13th around 11:55 p.m. Street Gilbert and Broadway.

“Officials found two adult men with gunshot wounds on the sidewalk. Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment, where they later died of their injuries,” said the Mesa police on May 14 in a press release.

They are identified as Scott Mccracken (37) and Norberto Ruiz (37).

“It was found that McCracken fired a weapon in Ruiz and returned Ruiz. Detectives examine the relationship between McCracken and Ruiz, but they don't believe that this was a random shootout,” said the Mesa police.

No other injuries were reported and no suspects are sought.

What we don't know:

The police did not say what could have led to the shootout.
