“A person was arrested for murder,” said Swedish police commander Erik Akerlund in a media information.

For the survey, several people who “were considered by interest in the investigation” were added to the survey, Akerlund added.

According to the Swedish media, at least one of the killed connections to organized gang crime, although the police have not yet confirmed the reports.

According to the police, the shooting incident was “an isolated event” that was not associated with Valborg Night celebrations.

Motvie behind Deadly Attack remains unclear

There was no information that indicated that the incident was a terrorist attack or a hate crime, said the local police, and it was added that an investigation into murder was initiated.

According to the police, the victims still have to be identified, whereby several media in the country have reported that the shootout took place next to a hairdressing salon.

Swedish Minister of Justice Gunnar Strommer said that his ministry was in close contact with law enforcement authorities.

“A brutal act of violence occurred in central upsala,” said Strommer in a statement and named the incident “extremely seriously”.

Sweden's gang

Sweden has seen a wave of violence related to gangs in the past ten years, with many of the crimes committed with weapons.

The police did not say whether the shootout was an example of gang violence on Tuesday.

The country experienced its deadliest mass shooting in February when a 35-year-old lonely shooter opened fire in an adult education center in the city of Oebro and killed ten people.

At the beginning of this month, two people were killed in a gang battle in Sweden's second most common city of Gothenburg.
