Mrbeasts Chichén Itzá Video of the Mexican public, civil servants, examined

YouTube Megastar Mrbeast is about to examine the Mexican authorities and the outrage of the public about his most recent video, which was shot at the protected archaeological sites Chichén Itzá And Calakmul.

Officials have accused the extremely successful content creator to mislead the Theater and at the same time defend the legality of his permits.

The main controversy about the video is not so much access to Chichén Itzá and Calakmul (shown here), but his undermining of the inheritance with Theatralis representations, for which the cultural secretary Claudia Curiel de Icaza called for “reasonable sanctions”. (Cuartoscuro.com)

Jimmy Donaldson, born in Kansas, 27, known as mrbeast, Has about 394 million YouTube subscribers -more than any other in the world, and that includes YouTube channels for entertainers, celebrities and companies.

He is famous for high-budget stunts, philanthropy and viral challenges such as a real ink fishing game and even for Start of Mrbeast Burgers in Mexico City in 2023 (now with 36 locations all over Mexico).

Smelled cheeseburger and french fries in the Beast style aside, his video on May 10th on May 10th “I survived 100 hours in an old temple” has accumulated more than 55.7 million views in four days.

But it also has violent criticism of the presentation of limited areas in a couple of UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Chichén Itzá in the state of Yucatán and Calakmul in Campeche.

The National Institute of Anthropology and History of Mexico (Inah) confirmed that Donaldson had received approvals about the Federal Ministry of the Federal Tourism and the state governments and that his filming was supervised by the employees to “protect no damage to the inheritance”.

However, the institute criticized the “distorted information” and “theaters” of the video and clarified that the key scenes were produced.

One of these scenes was a drone that allegedly flew in the temple chamber on Kukulkán, a pyramid that was also known as El Castillo, that was Illegally scaled by two tourists in March.

Towards the end of his video, Mrbeast says: “What secrets were in this old room? Out of respect for culture and all the people who keep it very sacred, we will not touch the temple. Instead, we will fly this drone to see what is in this room.”

In a press release entitled ” “The visit by YouTuber Mr. Beast in Heritage Sites was carried out in accordance with the Inah regulations.” Inah claims that this was not done because the drone was only flown outside the chamber.

“The video contains extensive audiovisual post -production work and alludes to events that have not occurred, e.g. [onto the top of a pyramid] Or spent the night in the archaeological site, ”added Inah.

According to Inah, another faux scene contained a “pre-Hispanic funeral mask” that Donaldson was handed over. According to Inah, it was not an artifact, but “clearly a contemporary reproduction”.

At her press conference on Wednesday morning, the Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum explained that the permits were given by law, but ordered a review.

“When permission has been violated, [we will] See which sanctions are coming, ”she said, how the Mileno newspaper quotes.

The cultural secretary Claudia Curiel de Icaza condemned the often theatrical representation of restricted zones of the video and called for “reasonable sanctions” to undermine sacred holiness.

Inah director Diego Prieto emphasized no damage, but recognized recognized protocols for public access were incorrectly presented.

Social media users accused Mexican authorities of preference and found that locals and even researchers are exposed to stricter access. Some critics brought potential corruption and asked: “How much money did he pay?”

Donaldson, whose net assets reported to 550 million US dollars, began to publish Gaming videos in 2012 before obtaining fame with stunts such as counting 100,000. In contrast to criticisms of “charity porn”, his philanthropic undertakings, including tree plants initiative #teamtrees, exploit poverty for views.
