Nate Hafer offers injury update on two returning Alabama basketball guards

Hoover, ala. – Alabama basketball's implemented squad will offer a few returnees who missed the majority of last season. The graduated guards Houston Mallet and Latrell Wrightsell Jr. want to return both from injuries to play out their last year of justification for Crimson Tide in the coming season.

During a appearance at the Tradition of the Pro-Am region on Wednesday, head coach Nate Oats provided an update for both players who are up to date in the summer.

Malette applied for a medical red shirt after playing just six games last season, the former Pepperdine transfer was 3.2 points and 2.2 rebounds, while he was 50% (5 out of 10) from beyond the arch in his limited action with the flood.

“Houston Mallet, we submitted all the documents for his medical redshirt to the Sec. We do not assume that there are problems there,” said Oats. “He is there [trainer] Clarke [Holter] He got along very well every day in the training room. “

Malette always had to make red shirt last season. However, his limited campaign came after Wrightsell had suffered an Achilles tear in Novemeber. Before Wrightsell suffered the injury, he started five games in eight appearances with an average of 11.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists, while he shot 42.2% from beyond the arch.

“The one who goes a little more about how he will be ready for next year is Trelly,” said Oats about Wrightsell's recovery. “He is a lot before the schedule of everything that Clarke tells me. He works super hard, he does everything he has to do. We expect him to be ready with the first game. He jumps, he clarified the jump.

Mallets and Wrightsell compete junior Aden Holloway and Sophomore Aiden Sherrell as Alabama's four returning players from last season. So far, Alabama has brought four transfers, including Jalil Bethea (Miami), Taylor Bol Bowen (State Florida), Keitenn Bristow (Tarleton State) and Noah Williamson (Bucknell). Alabama also signed a three-person first semester class, including the Rivals1 talent Amari Allen, Davion Hannah and London.

In total, Alabama's squad is currently with 11 scholarship players, one below the NCAA border. Oats said he wanted to add at least one other player before the start of the season.

“There are still some decent people out there,” said Oats. “If we only went into season at this 11, we would go well, but as you saw last year, you need some injuries, you need a few things.

“So let's still look. We'll take a look at a few boys. We will see who pulls their name out of the design that is still in the portal. There are such options.”
