Lies, aliases and a viral deception: in the bad Nanny scandal

Carrie Jade Williams appeared on social media in 2022 and told her “heartbreaking” story to live with the degenerative Huntington disease.

Your emotional videos and asking for understanding have made many people a chord. When one of these articles became viral, questions were asked about the truthfulness of the history of Carrie Jade Williams.

It didn't take long for some social media -lauths “Carrie Jade” not the true identity of that person. And much more about what they discovered was even more shocking.

Bad Nanny is a new two-part series that tells the history of the true person behind the name Carrie Jade-a serial artist with several accepted identities.

The series contains interviews with the online investigators who found that the right name of Ms. Samantha Cookes is and that it not only carried out diseases, but also had a hidden past that had full deception and worrying claims of more than a decade.

Samantha chefs also posed as a nanny, often for families in need of protection, as well as a children's therapist and even as a replacement mother while hiding their true identity.

The series hears from the victims, which were associated with Samantha's fraudulent identities and were connected in Great Britain and Ireland. Some of them had greeted them in their houses, including a couple from North Yorkshire, who spoke for the first time about how Samantha was a substitute mother to cheat on their savings.

A mother of three children tells the program, as she believed that she hired a “Mary Poppins-like au pair” in her house in County Offaly. She explains how Samantha (with the alias 'Lucy Hart') offered an urgently needed childcare solution before she disappeared and left a threatening note that she left anxiously for the safety of her children.

Bad Nanny also includes three women from Dublin who describe how Samantha was a therapist for children with additional needs under the alias 'Lucy Fitzwilliams'. They tell how 'Lucy' deserves their trust by looking for donations for a women's woman and collecting money for a wrong trip to Lapland. When they discovered that 'Lucy' wasn't what she said, she was fled.

A neighbor and the landlord of Samantha explain how she moved to County Kerry, where she accepted another identity: as an incurable author with only months to life. She received support, sympathy and even financial aid, including the social welfare payments of the Irish state.

Through statements by Samantha's sacrifices, the British police, those who know them and the social media's sleers that they outlook, the series shows the production and exposing of a modern fraudster.

Bad Nanny is a co -production produced for BBC Northern Ireland and RTé from Alleycats TV. It will now be available on the BBC IPlayer and RTé Player.

The first episode will be broadcast on BBC One Northern Ireland on Wednesday, May 14th at 10:40 p.m.
