Durham NC Police Headquarters Shooting | Murder -suspect shot and killed in the DPD headquarters

Durham, NC (WTVD) – An investigation is fatal in the police authority of Durham.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

During an evening media meeting, the police chief of Durham, Patrice Andrews, said a murderous person, and when the interview was completed, the officials prepared him for transport when he fell forward and received control over the weapon of an officer.

There was a fight, said Andrews, and it ended when the suspect was shot.

He was taken to a hospital in which he later died.

The chief of police said that due to the preliminary investigation, “the suspect had fired the shot out of the gun that was in his control.”

No officers were injured.

Just a few minutes after the incident, ABC11 was on site when the crime scene band was wrapped around the side of the DPD headquarters and an ambulance was pulled out of a load dock in the building with a police officer.

ABC11 asked the police whether they believe that this was in custody of the suspect's attempted suicide, but they would not comment on the investigation and said it is still. They also rejected information about the age or name of the killed man, and said that next did not have to be notified. It is not clear with which murder the man was questioned in connection with the man.

Andrews said she had checked a large part of the incident.

“I'm not in the speculation business, I'm not in business when I accept,” said Andrews. “We work alone on facts and facts, and that's why we will wait until everything takes place throughout the examination before we make further statements.”

The suspect got control of the weapon of an officer before a fatal shot was fired, the police chief said.

Andrews said that DPD's thoughts were with the family of the killed man and the officials from whom she said that they were changed forever by the incident.
