Indian women help miss world candidates to wash their feet, video sparks indignation: 'colonial cater' | Deployment

Miss World Pageant – one of the oldest in the world – has seen a reasonable proportion of controversies in the past. A section of the Internet has expressed a video against a video in which Indian women wash the feet of Miss World candidates before visiting a temple.

Miss World candidates in Telangana

The Miss World 2025 competition began with a glittering ceremony on May 10 in Hyderabad and will run until the grand finale on May 31, when the incumbent Queen Krystyna Pyszková will be handed over to a new winner.

Before the Miss World Final, the participants visited two of the most revered temple of Telangana -the Ramappa Temple in the Mulugu district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the famous thousand -pillars in Warangal.



The temple visits were part of several activities that were organized in the course of the Telangana Tourism department. Before entering the temple, the beauty queens washed their feet, as is common. The PTI news agency reported: “Before entering the temple, the participants took part in a usual footwear in the usual, with elegant plates used with water.”

On the online recordings, however, local women showing the Miss World participants to wash their feet.

Videos Spark's outrage



The videos shared in social media show in Telangana women, who are considered volunteers -help the Miss World participants to wash their feet. Some were even seen how they handled their feet dry with a towel.

The videos triggered outrage under a section of the Internet that made the act as “racist”.

“Such a disgusting activity of the state government, it is an out and out -kastic and racist program,” wrote X user Harish.

“The video shows that the candidate washing their own feet, supporting the women's volunteers,” said another and added: “There should be a word of the government representative and the organizers about this activity.”

A critic gave it an example of India's “colonial cat”.



However, several social media users also pointed out that most participants seemed to have washed their feet themselves. Some were supported by local women.
