Body Camera film material from fatal officer shooting in Poulsbo

The authorities published police camera material from the deadly officer of the past week in Poulsbo.

The incident began around 9:15 p.m. on May 7th, when a Poulsbo police officer tried to stop a vehicle near Viking Way and the Nordic Cove Lane. The driver refused to run over and asked for a persecution. According to a press release from the Poulsbo Police Department, the MPs of the Kitsap County answered assist.

After the vehicle had come to a standstill, the officials approached the driver, who was supposedly armed with a large knife. The authorities said that the suspect had refused to comply with the orders and presented a threat to civil servants and deputies on site.

“After the attempts to de -escalate and not fatal options were unsuccessful, the suspect continued to be a fatal threat to the civil servants, which caused the use of deadly violence, which led to the death of the suspect,” said the police authority.

No officers or MPs were injured during the incident.

In accordance with the standard procedure, the officials and deputies involved were transferred to administrative leave. The Washington State Office of Independent Investigations (OII) has taken over the examination of the shootout.
