Israeli strikes kill dozens in the Gaza, says the Ministry of Health

Dozens were killed on Thursday in Israeli strikes over the Gaza Strip, according to the territory's Ministry of Health, when the US attempts to urge Israel and Hamas to agree to a new ceasefire.

According to the ministry, dozens of others were injured in the attacks, which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants.

Israel has threatened a significant military escalation in the coming days, unless Hamas defines her arms and frees the remaining hostages it holds. But the Palestinian armed group rejected the conditions of Israel and asked for an end to the war and a complete Israeli retreat in exchange for the release of the prisoners.

The Trump government is trying to convey an end of the war that began after the attack on October 7, 2023 led by Hamas, in which around 1,200 people were killed and about 250 people were brought to Gaza as hostages.

According to the Gaza health officer, Israel's subsequent military campaign against Hamas has killed more than 50,000 people, including thousands of children. The Gaza Ministry of Health said that more than 50 people had been killed in the recent strikes. Despite its immense tribute, the war did not manage to subdue Hamas or to free all hostages.

At the weekend, the United States and Hamas have freed a separate agreement on Edan Alexander, the last American hostage, which lives in Gaza alive. President Trump wrote on social media that he hoped that this was “the first of these last steps to end this brutal conflict”.

The Israeli negotiators traveled to Qatar this week to find the latest round of the indirect ceasefire talks with Hamas to free the remaining hostages. The following day, Benjamin Netanyahu's office, the Israeli Prime Minister, said that he had spoken to Steve Witkoff, Mr. Trump's Messenger of the Middle East and the Israeli negotiation team.

However, an Israeli civil servant who was familiar with the conversations said that a breakthrough had hardly expected. The official, who was not justified to speak publicly, spoke on the condition of anonymity.

However, the Israeli military campaign did not stop. On Tuesday, Israeli planes bombed the area around the European hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis to kill Muhammad Sinwar, one of the best leaders of Hamas in Gaza. The older brother of Mr. Sinwar, Yahya Sinwar, mastered the attacks on October 7 on October 7 on October 7, before he was killed by Israeli forces last year.

Neither Israel nor Hamas publicly commented on the fate of the younger Mr. Sinwar.
