On the beach there was more positive test audience reviews than the first game – Kojima

With the publication of June 26th from Death Banding 2: On the beach The director Hideo Kojima has become more and more detailed that the test reviews for the game were quite positive. Kojima in conversation with the Edge Magazine (via VGC) Kojima said that the audience test reviews for the upcoming game were even more positive than what he saw for the original Deathrail.

Kojima also spoke about how he uses feedback from game tests and said that although he observes feedback on mechanical aspects of the A Like Camera control, he does not change stories or topics of games in order to make them more appealing for everyone.

“I hear criticism when the controls have to be optimized or if a camera pan is too slow or too fast. But I don't change topics or history based on the feedback,” said Kojima. “Of course I want people to play my game, so I have to listen to a certain extent. But I am also not interested in doing something that appeals to everyone.”

He also spoke about what he sees as a success in the reception of a test audience, and doubles with the fact that he is not appealed to almost everyone. Kojima looks at 4 out of 10 players who like the game as “a good balance”. He also wants his work to be seen as a “a bit more controversial” because he does not want to make games like blockbuster films.

“In fact, I carried out a lot of surveillance tests for the original Deathrail. I would find that four out of ten people would love the game, but six would say it was a terrible game. I think that's a good balance. But with the game tests for death 2: everyone on the beach seems to be positive. “

“Sony is of course happy, but I wish I would be a little more controversial. Blockbuster films need an approval assessment of 80 percent – I don't want to play such games. I am not interested in addressing the mass market or selling millions of copies … that's not what I strive for.”

Kojima also notes that he cannot publish a game that nobody wants, since he ultimately has to take care of the business aspects of the production of games such as running his studio and the payment of his employees. “Of course I can't afford to make a failure,” he said. “I have to take care of my studio, my employees and our production budget. But essentially I don't just want to recreate something that is already in the world. I want to do something new.”
