Man with a knife shot, killed by the Greeley police

A man who swung a knife at the carcan was fatally shot by the Greeley police on Wednesday afternoon.

The Greeley police officers reacted to reports of a man in the 500 block of the 16th Avenue, which swung a knife on Wednesday, as can be seen from a press release from the 19th Justicial Critical Incident Response team.

An officer found about half a mile northwest of the SECOND STREET to the unitified man about half a mile northwest, “a knife aggressively swings when cars passed by,” the press release says.

The man refused to comply with the officer's commands, drop his knife and quickly approached the officer, the investigators said. Then the officer shot the man.

Additional officials arrived on site and provided medical help, but the man died of his injuries, according to the release.

It is unclear when the original calls came in after 911, but the investigators said that the man had died of his injuries at 2:25 p.m., he was identified by the forensic doctor of Weld County.
