CBS sports projects Derik Queen to Houston in the latest NBA Mock Draft

After the NBA Draft Lottery, CBS Sports released its updated NBA Mock Draft this week. Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander have the Houston Rockets, who select the Maryland Center Derik Queen.

The reigning big ten newcomer of the year was one of the top players of the conference last season and led the TERPS to appear in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. In his individual season in Maryland, Queen scored double-digit goals in 30 games, scored 15 double double (most of all from every newcomer last season) and scored a career high of 31 points in the Big Ten Tournament semi-final against Michigan.

While Queen is generally regarded as a choice of lottery, there are some reports that his design stock falls after the “Augentest” in the NBA design Combine. This week Jamie Shaw stated on3 that he believes that this is the case.

“… However, the NBA-Draft Combine confirmed the eye exam on the sportiness of the queen,” wrote Shaw. “While it was already known that Queen was a less average athlete, his test numbers ended even worse than expected. Queen ended with a reported 12.45-track agility drill, which was the third-less number of points of the NBA design of the 28.0 β€³ reported maximum vertical with the Payton-Sand fort the second nest would have ended the lowest year.

“The NBA-Draft Combine also showed that Queen could not clean up the problems in his route from the high school. He shot 20.0 percent this season and made only 45.0 percent of his 111 shots here (off dribble, spot up, 3-point star, 3-point side and free season). High school, over two seasons (63 games),) Queen has 125 templates for 137 sales ….. “

It will certainly be interesting to see where the teams ultimately settle on Queen. While his tests can feel some without restrictions, his production on the pitch cannot be ignored.
