Driver who is charged with a new Prairie bus accident that is exposed to an additional fee

St. Joseph County, Ind. (Wndu) – The man who is accused of having driven two new BOIRIE United School Corporation with a box truck in Laporte County now has an additional fee.

The 41-year-old Shawn Wesly Russell Akison was charged in Laporte County for criminal ruthlessness after seven players and two coaches of the new Prairie JV Baseball team were injured last Thursday, May 8th, at the intersection of US 20 and Fail Road in the crash. One of the students was flown to the hospital in a critical condition.

Akison has now been accused of opposing the law enforcement authorities for his actions in St. Joseph County before the crash in Laporte County.

The police claim that Akison ruthlessly drove the box truck on State Road 2 in Western St. Joseph County before crossing the county border. According to documents from St. Joseph County, Dispatch said that he deviated on the entire street and met almost several other vehicles.

The police tried to pull the truck, but she said Akison did not stop and continued to swing on the whole street, brake regularly and used a turn signal if it was not appropriate.

The police finally terminated their persecution of the truck as soon as he entered Laporte County.

A short time later, according to the investigators, Akison said two new Prairie Mini School buses, which led members of the JV baseball team to a game and another commercial motor vehicle.

According to court documents from Laport County, Akison may have been influenced at the time of the crash. Officials say that he had stared at slow and lethargic answers to questions from civil servants and initially rejected any kind of tests.

Finally, a judge signed an arrest warrant to give him a blood test. These results are still pending.

Wndu 16 News is still working to find out whether Akison was driving a commercial or private vehicle. According to court documents, he stated that he had returned to Illinois with a load of Amazon.

Akison is scheduled to appear on Friday morning.
