Hicks' family members mourn the life that is lost too early.

“As she breathes and eats up there, my children stay here without a father. My children suffer here and look at pictures,” said Kristina Hicks, his ex-wife.

The police found him dead in front of the dairy queen in Powell County, shortly before he arrested Alyson Martin in Jeffersonville.

In an arrest, we learned that she had admitted to stopped at a nearby petrol station after hit the pedestrian and noticed that she had been in an accident. She then admitted to tearing off the pedestrian's backpack from the front end of the car and leaving it there.

This case is not the first Dui Martin with whom Martin was charged with. The police said she was arrested last year for another DUI in Franklin County. She was later released from prison for her own recognition, and a bond was never determined.

Lori Weaver Hawkins with AAA from The Bluegrass says that she should pay attention to this activity in the warmer months.

“Signs such as weaving in and from the trail, slow down and accelerate again. These things are often treacherous signs. When you see this, drive on in a safe place and alert the law enforcement authorities,” said Hawkins.

It is a scenario that could happen to each of us, but you can carry out your part to prevent you by making the right choice.

“The only tip I can give is not driving when you drink. That's it,” said Hawkins.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that around 34 people die in the United States every day due to drunk driving.
