The video shows deadly officers who have been set up at Walmart after an overdose incident

New Orleans (WVUE)-The police in New Orleans published the surveillance video of what superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick called a life and death during a deadly encounter outside the Walmart in Tchoupitoulas Street.

The incident occurred on Friday, May 2, when officer Rachel Wiley and other officials responded to reports about a man who no longer reacted in the parking lot of the business. The officials managed Narcan and revived the man, who was later identified as a 42-year-old Gregory Williams.

Once awake, the police said, Williams had become unpredictable and still partially drove in the vehicle with Officer Wiley.

The surveillance material published on Thursday (May 15th) shows how Wiley clings to the driver's door of a gray car while it turns before the store and to the Rousseau Street. Co-representative Michael Sellah-Whodine can be seen how to run after them.

When the vehicle entered oncoming traffic, Nopd said Wiley had difficulty stopping the car and fired her weapon twice and hit Williams once.

The car then wiped a truck and let off Wiley, who held. Moments later, the car fell head -on into a parked vehicle.

Williams was declared dead at the crime scene. Wiley suffered several injuries, but is expected to recover.

“I can tell you that Officer Wiley is quite a hero,” said superintendent Kirkpatrick. “She kept her head in an extremely stressful situation. We are blessed by God's gracious hand that she was not killed in this event and that her injuries are so that she will recover.”

During the escape, the police said that Williams also hit a woman who invited food to her car. She was admitted to the hospital with injuries that were not life -threatening.

Kirkpatrick confirmed that the camera material worn with body was present, but said that it would not be published at that time to honor a request from Williams' family.

Officer Wiley was temporarily assigned to what is a standard procedure according to a shootout affected by officer, according to NOPD.
