Popular football coach – one of four killed in TSP crash

Robert Violante

New Castle – A popular football coach in New Jersey who grew up in Somers was one of the four people who were killed on Wednesday in a terrible crash on the Taconic State Parkway in North West Chest.

Officials in the Bergenfield school district said Robert Violante drove home at the time of the tragedy.

The state police said that the crash occurred around 4.45 p.m. when a sprinter car that traveled to the city of New Castle near Millwood, crossed the average median and entered the streets to the north.

The van then met the Honda sedan from Violantes, who traveled on the lane.

Soldiers said the effects had led to the sprinter car overturning and devouring them in flames.

Three residents of the van were killed immediately, while the driver was critically included in the West Chest Medical Center. Violante was also taken to the hospital, but could not be saved.

The headmaster Dr. Christopher Tully said, Violant, known as coach V, “was more than just a teacher and coach – he was a mentor, a father figure and a real friend for so many. She always put the students in the first place and believed to help them exhaust their great potential.”

The state police did not publish the names of the others who are involved in the tragic crash.

Soldiers ask everyone who has seen the crash to contact the New York State Police under (845) 677-7300.
