Monroe wife condemned in the accident with a birthday party in which 2 children were killed

Monroe County, me. – The Monroe woman, who was killed against a birthday party in April 2024 and killed two children, was convicted on Thursday.

Marshella Chidester was sentenced to 25 to 50 years in prison on April 20, 2024.

Because of two cases of second degree, it was found to be guilty, two cases of the company under the influence of alcohol that caused deaths and five OUI attacks in March, which led to serious injuries.

Chidester spoke during her conviction and said: “I'm very sorry and I never wanted to come across not to be sad.”

James Amberg, the new lawyer she hired after her trial, said the evidence in this case was “terrible”, and it was one of the worst cases he saw, but the idea that Chidester is something he does not agree with.

“I don't know what a fair sentence looks like in this case,” said Amberg. “My client is 67 years old. Obviously, she will go to prison today, but even if she serves less than the guidelines in this case, it would probably be a life sentence.”

When the judge handed over the conviction, he said: “I think the jury did it right” and that this “not just an accident, it was a crime”.

The parents of the children, Brian Phillips and Mariah Dodds, expressed emotional statements during the condemnation of chidester.

Phillips said that about an hour after stopping his children at the birthday party, he began to get constant calls from people he had not seen or spoke in years, and could feel something wrong in his stomach.

He described that he arrived in the boat club and the chaotic scene with which he was hit, including the moment when he knew his children were gone.

“I will never come back what they took me back,” said Phillips in court.

Dodds, the mother's mother, said it felt like she had stopped breathing when she learned that her children had died.

“The loss of my children has created an empty thing in my life that I can never fill,” said Dodds. “And I will live the grief I wear for the rest of my life.”

She described how much love and laughter the children brought into their lives and how guilty she feels everyday things because they know that their children are gone. Dodds and her son Jayden were injured in the crash.

The conviction takes place after the jury has returned a culpable judgment in Chidester's legal proceedings in just a few hours.
