Black bear when crashing in Howell County, Mo.

Springfield, Mo. (Ky3) – The Missouri Department of Conservation warns the drivers to respect black bears.

Missouri Highway Patrol said that a young male black bear was recently the victim of a vehicle in Howell County when he tried to cross the street at night. The driver contacted the law enforcement authorities in the region, which immediately answered.

Missourians were reminded of never approaching a wounded bear or other large wild animals. Instead, you should contact the local nature conservation or law enforcement authorities to report the incident.

Nature conservation officers ask that they do not leave any food or garbage outside, block garbage containers if possible and leave no pets outside. Finally, everyone who sees a bear in part of Missouri should call immediately so that nature conservation can be contacted.
